SWAT begins training in Nasarawa State

The Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT) on Monday started its training with over 400 recruited members at the Police Mobile College in Eggon, Nasarawa State.

According to reports by Channels TV, the training was for their preparation ahead of their responsibility as a replacement to SARS.

The training ground was inspected by some officials including the Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi. During his speech, the Minister charged the personnel to be diligent in carrying out their tasks and be good role models to the society.

“I believe at the end of this exercise you are going to come out as very dedicated and very committed mobile police officers who will be equal to the task we have assigned to you” he said.

”Your new responsibility as a replacement to SARS is to face the challenges of armed robbery and other crimes across the country,” he added.

The Minister also advised the SWAT team to uphold the principles of democracy and human rights as they prepare to carry out their new assignment.
