Labor Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi has reacted to Kashim Shettimma who said that Peter Obi can only be a president in Igbo Land.
Peter Obi in an interview with Vanguard replied that he has heard a lot of things from people and statements that should not be made by people in leadership positions.
He reacted to the statement of one of the presidential candidates who said that a section of the country will not vote for him ( Peter Obi).
He noted that:
• He has qualified for INEC requirements for contesting for the position of President. And he is also qualified in :
- Age
- Education
- Terms of being an entrepreneur
Peter stated that anybody can be more qualified than he is, but he is qualified. He believes that he is more qualified than Shettimma’s principal- Tinubu.
“His principal is a two-term governor, I am a two-term governor too. I’ve managed public resources comfortably and effectively to the best of my knowledge. I’m not saying other people didn’t do well. I’m not saying others are not qualified. But I’m saying that if we look at what we have been able to do in the past, I’m very very qualified to be the president of the country. Unless there is another qualification unknown to law and the public.” He added.
For Peter Obi, if there is no other qualification known to the public then he is qualified.
He further stated that he has no attraction to serve if not to build a coalition to save the nation and take back and save the country and if we do not save the country now, we will regret it.
Peter Obi also revealed that he does not have a resident permit from other countries, he gave it up when he became a governor.
” I don’t have any other country I can call my country other than Nigeria so we are building a solid coalition of the willing to take Nigeria back and rebuild it into a workable, sustainable and prosperous country.” – Peter Obi.
He also acknowledged the coalition of the youths who are very resourceful, innovative, and creative.
