During the 10th edition of Vision Africa Radio Station’s media training, Ikechuckwu Emetu, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, disclosed that a significant number of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) were discovered in the office of the Chairman of Ariaria International Market in Aba.
This discovery was made during a recent crackdown on extortion and illegal levies in the market. The state government has already apprehended 23 individuals as part of their ongoing efforts to combat extortion and illegal fees imposed on transporters and traders.
The Deputy Governor emphasized that Governor Alex Otti’s objective is to relieve Abians from the burden of long-standing illegal activities in the state. Emetu expressed his willingness to be called “King Harold” if it meant he was doing the right thing.
He also highlighted the importance of media training and encouraged media practitioners and young people to utilize social media as a positive tool for the state’s development. He commended Bishop Sunday Onuoha and Vision Africa for organizing the training, emphasizing its value in enhancing the skills of media practitioners in the state.
