The Trump Administration has launched another attack on the communist nation China with yet another restrictions, this time around imposing their diplomats working in the United States with what appears to be movement restrictions, this is latest sign of heightening tension between the world’s two largest economies.
The new restrictions was announced earlier on Wednesday by US secretary of state Mr. Mike Pompeo, under the new rule, the Chinese diplomats are mandated to seek for approval if they wished to visit college campuses or meet with local government officials, or to host any cultural events outside of the Chinese Embassy or consular posts if the audience is larger than 50 people.
The US secretary of state also added that the communist nation are required to identify all government owned social media accounts.
The US government described the new restrictions as demanding reciprocity and according to them, the Chinese government crossed the line when they imposed similar restrictions on American diplomats working in China.
“We’re simply demanding reciprocity,” Pompeo said.
In recent times Trump Administration has taken serious measures to limiting the presence of China in the United States, citing security concerns.
Three weeks ago, Donald Trump signed an executive order mandating the Chinese owned company TikTok to divest its US assets within 90 days or risked being banned.
