Traders at Powerline Market in Aba, Abia state, have suffered significant losses of valuable merchandise and cash due to a fire incident that occurred at night. According to residents of the area, the fire initially started as smoke in one section of the market during midnight and quickly spread to other areas. Although the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, affected individuals speculate that the presence of flammable substances stored within the market might have triggered the blaze.
One of the victims, Agu Igwe, received a distressing phone call from a friend informing him that his shop was engulfed in flames. Overwhelmed with sorrow, Igwe tearfully recounted the extent of his losses, lamenting that his shop had recently been restocked. Another trader revealed that he had taken a loan from a local financial organization to purchase his goods. The trader, who primarily dealt with plastics and scrap materials, expressed his despair as the earnings from his weekend sales, which he had stored in his shop, were reduced to ashes.
In light of this unfortunate event, the affected individuals have made an appeal to the Abia State Government and kind-hearted individuals for assistance and support during this difficult time.
