Nigerian Military destroys about 37 militant camps and over 1,883 illegal oil refinery sites in the Niger Delta region.
The news was made public by the Military joint task force’s commander, Rear Admiral Aminu Hassan on Friday while highlighting things the joint operation has achieved.
The military task force whose code name is Operation Delta safe noted that 699 suspects were also arrested in connection with various crimes in the region of Niger Delta in 2022.
He also said that the joint operation had conducted several operations in the south-South to ensure the smooth operation of the oil and gas industry in the Niger Delta region.
He explained that in the course of the military operation, over N53 billion was saved in terms of cost from crude oil, diesel, kerosene, and petrol with 699 suspects arrested, 37 militants, and sea robbers’ camps destroyed.

Also, about 90 assorted illegal weapons and a large caliber of ammunition with 1883 illegal oil refining sites were dismantled.
The force whose mandate is to protect oil and gas facilities, anti-crude oil theft operations, and clearance of militants, and sea pirates expressed their appreciation to the federal government and other related bodies and forces who supported them to produce results.
He noted that the joint task force also resolved about 188 disputes involving multinational oil companies and host communities through civil-military relations and mediation efforts.
