The Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) stated that they haven’t yet determined the immediate and remote cause of the Jabiru J430 aircraft crash in Lagos.
The investigation has begun, and the crew members were fortunately rescued and taken to the hospital. The NSIB plans to provide capacity-building training for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) staff to enhance emergency operation efficiency.
They recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LASEMA to improve emergency management and safety during disasters in the state. The MoU aims to foster collaboration and exchange of ideas between NSIB and LASEMA.
Additionally, NSIB is considering signing an MoU with the police and other emergency management agencies to prevent incidents and preserve evidence effectively.
LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, emphasized the state government’s commitment to residents’ safety and protection, with significant investments in road, waterways, and accident and emergency management.
The MoU will also include training for 200 LASEMA staffers by NSIB’s training partners. This collaboration will enhance the professionalism of LASEMA’s personnel in handling emergencies.
