Honorable Shina Peller, Member of House of Representatives proposed a bill that the National Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) be scrapped and transfer assets and personnel to Nigeria Police Force.
He proposed the National Security and Defense Corps (Repeal and Transition) Bill, 2022 which passed the first reading on Tuesday.
In the Bill, Shina Peller countered the mandate of NSCDC in such a way that it is now a duplicate of the Nigeria Police Force.
He argued that every single function of the NSCDC is being carried out by Nigeria Police. Retaining them, he claims, is a waste of resources. Adding to the annual budget of NSCDC which almost runs into a Billion Naira.
According to him, the personnel of NSCDC will not lose their jobs, rather they will be absorbed by Nigeria Police Force.
Shina Peller is a member of the 9th National Assembly and a Member of the House of Representatives from Iseyin/ Iteswaju/ Kajola/ Iwajowa Federal Constituency.
