European Parliament ordered Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari to release the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanyé who has been under trial for some time.
Julie Ward MEP, a member of the European Union Parliament, presented the motion in a video made around the internet.
She stated that section 39 of the Nigerian constitution says that “every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including the freedom to hold opinions and receive and impact ideas without interference.”
She called on the President of Nigeria to uphold his constitution to ensure Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s immediate band safe release.

She also added that the Nigerian government must guarantee freedom of expression to all citizens.

European Parliament is an elected institution that has 705 members representing everyone. It has the right to debate legislation, pass and reject laws and amend the constitution in some cases.
