Emmanuel Emeruwa, a member of the Labour Party and the representative of Aba South, has successfully risen to the position of the Speaker in the Abia State House of Assembly, signifying his emergence as the leader of the legislative body within the state.
Despite being a first-time lawmaker, Emeruwa attained this position without any opposition from his fellow lawmakers.
Furthermore, Honorable Austin Mmeregini, also from the Labour Party and representing Umuahia East, secured the position of Deputy Speaker through the electoral process.
Both individuals have undergone the official swearing-in ceremony to assume their respective roles.
Meanwhile, the remaining members of the Assembly are currently undergoing the process of taking their oath of office, according to the information available at the time this report was submitted.
The conduct of the election is being overseen by the Clerk of the House, John Pedro Irokansi.
