The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, has reportedly passed on at the age of 99. He died on Friday morning at his residence in Windsor Castle.
This was confirmed in a statement from Buckingham Palace on Friday. It reads:
“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. Further announcements will be made in due course.
“The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”
Prince Philip, was a member of the British royal family and the husband of Queen Elizabeth II. He was born in Greece, but his family was exiled from the country when he was an infant.
The Duke of Edinburgh was an enthusiastic and talented polo player during his youthful years.
