It will be recalled that the purported arrest of Emefiele shortly after being suspended from office by the President had been widely reported by some online media.
It is not clear whether he had been invited to appear before the DSS, which had earlier in the year wanted to move against him over undisclosed reasons.
In light of the fact that the suspended Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, had been detained, the Department of State Services (DSS) clarified on Saturday that they did not have him in their custody.
Dr. Peter Afunanya, the spokesman for the DSS, addressed claims of Emefiele’s arrest by stating that Emefiele was currently not with the DSS. Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS”.
It is worth noting that Emefiele’s alleged arrest, which occurred shortly after his suspension by the President, had been widely reported by some online media. It remains unclear whether Emefiele had been invited to appear before the DSS, which had expressed an intention to take action against him earlier in the year for undisclosed reasons.
