One of the parents of the kidnapped students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation Afaka, Kaduna State, has stated that they paid N800,000 to secure the release of their children.
In an interview with Roots TV, the woman said she and other parents met with controversial Islamic scholar, Ahmad Gumi, who directed them to a Fulani man named Ahmed and they gave him the ransom.

Meanwhile, reports had it that about 39 students of the school were abducted by bandits on March 11, 2021 and 10 has so far been released, remaining 29 of them.
