Several questions have been raised with regards to Nigerian Army’s involvement in the shooting of the peaceful #EndSARS protesters in Lagos. CNN came up with some video evidence of the shooting, while also alleging that live bullets similar to those of the Nigerian Army were used on the protesters.
The Chief of Army Staff however told some members of the House of Representatives committee at Army headquarters on Wednesday, that the Nigerian Army are professional and will never operate outside the rules of engagement.
He said:
“Let me assure you and all Nigerians that the Nigerian Army is a professional Army. We follow our rules of engagement. Nigerians should feel safe.
“We abide by rules of engagement and the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.”
