In a harrowing incident on Thursday, May 9, 2024, Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTEC), nestled in Osara, Okene, Kogi State, fell victim to suspected terrorist invaders. Undergraduates preparing for exams found themselves thrust into a nightmare as bandits stormed the campus around 9 p.m., snatching students from their midst.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants emerged from the cover of the surrounding bush, infiltrating three lecture halls with gunfire ringing through the air. Panic rippled through the university as students, trapped in the halls, scrambled for safety in the wake of the sudden attack. Though local and conventional security forces swiftly responded, some students had already been whisked away by the invaders.
