According to Sahara Reporters, Yaga was a casual staff member at the Gwer Local Government secretariat in Aliade, Benue State. He was not paid his salary allowances for almost three years.
His grandmother said the young man had been facing series of financial challenges as a result, he couldn’t pay back the money he borrowed from people following the accumulation of his salary arrears.

Eventually, he fell sick and wasn’t financially able to get medical attention. Frustrated Yaga decided to end his life on Wednesday morning, by setting himself ablaze in his small thatched room.

Until his death, neighbors and friends alleged that Yaga Aondona was an easygoing man. Sad, he took his own life as a result of hardship.
