The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released a public notice, refuting the allegation of ordering banks to accept the deposit of the old ₦500 and ₦1000 bank notes.
In their press release, they made it known that they have been directed to only reissue and recirculate the old ₦200 bank notes in line with the broadcast of the president, for about 60 days.
They therefore, advised media practitioners to verify any information before publication.
