After the Monday night bomb attack on the Abuja-Ibadan route train, a survivor recalled his experience, saying that when the bomb exploded, the earth shook and then bullets began to rain on them from terrorists.
Another passenger who also survived the attack, told journalists via phone call that while they were in transit, they had a loud bang and then a bomb exploded. Just like the other survivor, he also said that within a twinkle of an eye, there was gunshots we everywhere and passengers started falling on each other. He further said that many were wounded, while others were hit by bullets as the terrorists closed in on them.
Meanwhile, the right authorities are working hand in hand with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to know the list from the passenger manifest for easy and efficient tracking
Furthermore, the Kaduna State government released a press statement which said that the evacuation of passengers who were trapped in the train has been concluded and that passengers who sustained injuries and other fatalities have been moved to different hospitals for adequate treatment.
According to the commissioner, ministry of internal security and home affairs, Kaduna State, he said that the passengers were evacuated from different hard-to-reach arenas in the forest and other locations in Audujongon, off the Kaduna-Abuja road. An appeal has also been made to the hospitals to attend to the victims diligently as the cost of treatment will be taken care of by the Nigerian government.
