Aircraft belonging to the Nigerian Army has crashed a few yards off the runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja.
According to emerging reports from various news media outlet, the military aircraft, King Air 350, crashed while approaching Abuja airport runway after reporting an engine failure.
At the time of this report, the number of casualty is yet unknown but the Nigerian Aviation Minister said that the crash was fatal.
The Minister, Hadi Sirika confirmed the unfortunate incident in a twitter post.
He wrote;
“A military aircraft King Air 350 has just crashed short of our Abuja runway after reporting engine failure enroute Minna. It appears to be fatal. We should remain calm & wait for the outcome of investigation by the military, while we pray for the departed soul/souls if any.”
