Abia State medical doctors have declared an indefinite strike over the kidnap of their colleague, Prof. Iweha who was kidnapped in front of his home on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
Following the abduction of former Chief Medical Director of Abia State University Teaching Hospital, Professor Uwadinachi Iweha, Abia State Nigerian Medical Association in the State has embraced an industrial action.
The strike is expected to go on until Dr. Iweha is released, as announced by Abịa State chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Chimezie Okwonu.

Dr. Chimezie speaks in regret that Prof. Iweha’s family was contacted and nothing has been heard from them.
He stated that the strike would affect public and private health facilities through emergency services would be maintained.
Meanwhile, the medical Director it federal Medical Center, Umuahia, Prof. Azubuike described the situation as painful, reacted to the impact of the strike on the poor patients who cannot afford the exorbitant cost of private clinics, and urged the Government to work with security agencies to ensure the release of their colleague.
