1. Ask how you can help
It is not out of place you ask a friend how you can help because the areas you think your friend needs help may not be where they need help. Try asking, get their reaction before you act.
2. Run Errands
Depending on what your friend is going through you may need to run errands for the person. It might be going to the grocery store, going to the hospital to get drugs, buying food, cooking, cleaning the house, or just doing one or two things to eat stress on your friend’s side.

3. Avoid cliches
If you intend to console your friend through words, do so without using cliches. Cliches are overly used expressions such as “It is well, you’ll be fine, etc. Engage your friend in an open-ended discussion instead.
4. Hang out
You can choose to hang out with your friend. Choose a location that is favorable to your friend, or a location that will not bring bad memories.
5. Listen Attentively
Sometimes, all your friends need is a listening ear. Take your time to listen to them. Make them know that you care about their feelings.
