Last Thursday night, an unidentified man was discovered deceased at the transformer of Government Secondary School in Owerri, Imo state.
An eyewitness in Owerri recounted to the news reporters that the victim’s charred body was found inside the transformer housing. The individual was suspected of attempting to steal cables and vandalize the transformer, but he was electrocuted when the power unexpectedly came on.
As at the time of filing the report, the school Principal, Mr. Chukwujindu Anyikwa, had reported the incident to relevant authorities, which includes but not limited to the Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB) and Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), who later visited the scene. The transformer was reportedly donated by the school’s old boys association.
