In Nigeria, the act of spraying money at celebratory events is a cultural tradition, often seen as a display of wealth and generosity.
However, there have been recent news of people getting arrested as a result of currency abuse and spraying money sporadically at event. Hence, the approach by Toyin Saraki, wife of the former Senate President, has sparked a conversation nationwide.

Instead of the conventional method of throwing currency notes on the floor, Saraki opted to place them neatly in envelopes before distributing them. This departure from the norm has elicited mixed reactions from Nigerians. (Video)
While some applaud Saraki for her innovative and considerate approach, others argue that it lacks the flamboyance and spontaneity associated with traditional money spraying.
