The NDLEA operatives arrested an artistes’ manager based in Lekki and his business associate from Ikoyi who specialize in distributing illegal drugs at VIP nightclubs and lounges in Lekki and Lagos Island, Lagos state.
The arrest was made based on intelligence about a shipment of a potent synthetic strain of cannabis called Colorado coming from Los Angeles, United States. The first person to be apprehended was Oseni Abdulraheem Ayodeji Babatunde (also known as Papalampa) at his residence in Lekki when the consignment arrived on July 23rd.
During the preliminary interview, Oseni confessed to being involved in the illicit trade for three years, selling to patrons at clubs and lounges such as Quilox, Silver Fox, DNA, and Hot box in Lekki and Lagos Island. Besides the drug business, he also mentioned organizing shows for artists in Lagos and abroad. NDLEA operatives intercepted ten parcels of Colorado weighing 2.50kg, hidden inside large tins of coffee and duvets, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.
After further searching Oseni’s residence, they found more of the same substance, a digital weighing scale, and other related items. Another person linked to the shipment, Nnadi Kingsley Ikenna from Ikoyi, was not present in the country when the consignment arrived. However, he was apprehended upon his return on July 27th at the Lagos airport and admitted to owning a portion of the consignment.
