Most tribes in Nigeria especially the South Eastern region, made it a tradition for a suitor to pay certain amount of money, that is not dowry, before proceeding for marriage.
While some of them have been fair, others saw it as an avenue to extort money from their in-laws. That was the case of this man who allegedly got a list of 1.2 million naira from his in-laws as marriage rights.

The most annoying part of it is that majority of the items written in the list were of no relevance to the marriage, instead they reflected the desire of the in-laws.
