Jewellery can bring out the whole beauty of an outfit. It complements the colour and style of a dress.
When you do not match your outfits with the right jewellery, it makes you look clumsy and unprofessional. And can ruin your dress. I bet you wouldn’t want your outfit to be ruined because you didn’t choose the right jewellery to match it with.
To match jewellery;
1. Consider your skin tone
Your skin tone plays a huge part in determining the kind of jewellery you should wear, especially when it has to do with the colour of the jewellery.
A neutral skin tone goes best with gold, silver and gemstone colours.
A Darker skin tone goes with gold and for a warmer colour, you can choose yellow, orange and green.
A cooler skin tone would go with white, gold, silver, red, purple and blue.
2. Consider the occasion that you are attending
Occasions speak volumes on the type of jewellery we choose. An occasion like a wedding ceremony may require you to use jewellery that is bold enough and should complete your outfit.
3. Complement the neckline
The right necklace will complement your neckline while using the wrong one can throw off all your looks.
A tube or strapless dress should be worn with a tight-fitting necklace in a choker.
An off-shoulder or one-sleeved dress can go with a thick dangly necklace.
A low necked shirt can go with a shorter necklace.
4. The shape of the earrings should match with the shape of the design in your clothes. When you wear clothes that have bold prints or patterns, you can go with a necklace and earrings with small pendants.
5. Use less jewellery for formal events.
Formal events like corporate meetings or presentations should not have too much jewellery worn. Simple earrings like studs are preferable.
6. When wearing bracelets, make sure that they match your sleeves. The longer your sleeve, the less bracelet and thinner you should wear. Thin chain bracelets go best with long-sleeved sweaters/sweatshirts.
7. Choose jewellery that matches your face.
If you have an oval face, try studs or shorter drop earrings.
If you have a square or round face, pendant earrings will look nice.
8. Your hairstyle!
You may not know that your hairstyle has a lot to do with your jewellery. If putting in dangly earrings, the hair should not be too full and long to cover them.
Give your outfits the best look with the best jewellery combination.
