1. Listen more than you speak: Teens like to be respected and listened to. So, you need to always be a ‘safe and accessible person’ for your child to confide in. It doesn’t mean you have to agree with everything your teenage child says, however, allow him/her to speak freely.

2. Trust them and give them space to socialize with their peers: Give your teenage child the chance to socialize. You can even invite his/her friends to your home to learn more about them.
3. Spend time together: Spending quality time with your teenage child is an excellent way to strengthen the bond. Taking him/her out for a hike, hang out, seeing a movie, makes your teenage child feel valued and appreciated.
4. Set boundaries: In as much as you have a teenage child in the house, you need to also set boundaries and let your teenage child know and understand that you’re the caregiver and head of the home.
