Cashew nuts are kidney-shaped seeds gotten from the cashew tree which is a tropical native to Brazil but is now cultivated in various warm climates across the globe. Cashew nut which is often known as the poor man’s plantation is sold at very high prices and is used to make delicious and nutritious curries. It can also be roasted and eaten dry.

A considerable amount of cashew nuts in your diet will provide you with many health benefits which include:

  1. Heart health: The National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) have pointed out that cashew nuts keep a check on different ailments which include heart disease. Taking a considerable amount of nuts has also, a cholesterol-lowering effect. Also, The Food and Drug Administration has stated that making nuts part of your diet reduces the risk of heart diseases. The nutrients in nuts such as unsaturated fatty acids, protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants may also confer heart-protective, anti-carcinogenic and anti-inflammatory properties.
  2. Consumption of nuts regularly and in the appropriate manner and quantity will also reduce the risk of blood diseases. Nuts are rich in copper which plays a vital role in the termination of free radicals from the body.
  3. Nuts contain very powerful antioxidant pigment called zea xanthin that forms a protective layer over the retina and protects the eyes from harmful UV rays, infections and pollutions.
  4. Consumption of nuts also improve our skin and as well prevent cancer.
  5. Studies have also proven that people who consume nuts on a regular and moderate basis lose weight faster. Therefore, for those who are looking forward to losing weight, nuts should be part of their diet.
  6. Nuts also tend to keep one full for a longer time.
  7. Consumption of cashew nuts and the application of its oil on the scalp ensures healthy hair, it also improves your hair colour and can also provide silky-smooth texture.
  8. Nuts may also be beneficial to people suffering from type 2 diabetes as it is a good source of fiber which helps prevent blood sugar spikes.

Generally, cashew nuts are a versatile addition to any diet. You can eat them on their own, or add them to your favourite dishes, or you can also use them to prepare cashew-based sauces. Just make sure you consume a considerable amount of cashew nuts regularly.
