The kidney is a very important organ in the body that works every hour to see that the body system works effectively.

Kidney disease can affect your body’s ability to carry out its necessary function such as the ability to clean the blood, filtering water from blood, help in controlling blood pressure and these things can affect the red blood cells production and vitamin D metabolism needed for bone health.

Habits that can damage your kidney include:

  1. Much Salt in meals: Having much salt in your food raises blood pressure and accelerate kidney damage or lead to having kidney stones. Instead of using much salt in food, use herbs and spicesĀ  to enhance your health.
  2. Excess Alcohol: excess intake of kidney disease leads to chronic kidney disease. Taking 4-5 drinks in less than two hours can lead to acute kidney injury.
  3. Dehydration: this happens when a person does not take enough water needed for the body system functioning. When the body lacks water, it can lead to kidney damage.
  4. Taking Hard drugs: drugs like cocaine, heroine can lead to high blood pressure which is one of the leading cause of kidney disease.
  5. Smoking : Smoking can interfer with the medicines used to treat high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes which are the two main causes of kidney disease. Smoking can also slow the flow of blood to the kidney.
  6. Excess protein: Too much intake of protein can lead to kidney especially red meat and other animals proteins which are first class protein.
  7. Processed foods: processed foods contain sodium and phosphorus that can be harmful to the kidney.
  8. Sitting in a place over a long period of time: Engaging in physical activities is associated with improved blood pressure and glucose metabolism, the both play an important factor in kidney health.
  9. Intake of excess painkiller

  11. Taking excess sugar: Excess sugar can lead to high blood pressure and Diabetes, which are leading factors to kidney disease. Always pay close attention to ingredients used in food production.

Be mindful of the things you eat take proper precautions to eat healthy.
