Manchester United’s legendary striker Wayne Rooney has retired from professional football.
The 35-year-old forward retires as Manchester United and England’s all-time record goalscorer and will go down as one of the best players of his generation.
Rooney who joined Derby County as a player-coach, has also been appointed as the interim manager of the club following the departure of Phillip Cocu in November.
Wayne Rooney’s 13 years in Manchester United produced 253 goals in 559 games, making him the all-time goalscorer.
He also won every possible medal during his time at Old Trafford – 5 Premier League titles, 1 UEFA Champions League, 1 FA Cup, 4 League Cups, 1 Europa League and the Club World Cup.
