Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirms rules for African cup of Nations- AFCON 2021, and gives number of players and substitution ahead of the match.
In preparation for the tournament, CAF has declared that any team participating in 2021 AFCON must have at least 11 players who have tested negative to Covid-19.
“A team that does not have a minimum of 11 players available will be considered to have lost the match 0-2.” CAF added.
“In exceptional cases, the organising committee of AFCON will take appropriate decision.”
Also, if there is no available goalkeeper in a team, an outfield player can take the place of the goalkeeper.
During the tournament, 5 substitution will be permitted in all the 52 matches. Though, CAF maintained that each team will be entitled to only 3 opportunities to make their 5 changes during the game while unused substitution will be carried over to extra-time to avoid disruption during the game.
For the time being, Algeria, Ivory Coast and Morroco have reported Covid-19 cases.
