Nollywood veteran actor and comic star Chiwetalu Agu has been released from detention by the Nigerian soldiers.
This was confirmed in a statement by his fellow Nollywood star Chizzy Alichi. She wrote via her Instagram page on Friday morning:
“Uncle Chinwetaluagu has been released. He is safe and sound. All thanks to God and everyone that contributed one way or the other.”
The 65-year-old film star was apprehended along Upper Iweka road Onitsha, Anambra state in a bus that has an inscription “Chikwuwetalu Film.”
Prior to his arrest, Chiwetalu Agu was returning from a ceremony which he attended in an outfit that has a Biafran flag printed on it. He was captured in some trending Instagram video dancing at the ceremony moments before his arrest.

Several calls by popular celebrities including his fellow actors led to his immediate release.
