British supermodel, Naomi Campbell has called out Recording Academy, Grammy for snubbing Wizkid and Afrobeat during the recently concluded 2022 Grammy awards.
Wizkid lost his two Grammy nominations for Best Global Music and Best Global Music Album to Arooj Aftab and Angelique Kidjo respectively. Naomi however believes that Wizkid’s song Essence and his Album Made In Lagos deserves much more than nominating it under the Best Global Music category.
The 51-year-old modelling icon took to her Instagram page to pen a heartfelt tribute to Wizkid, refering to him as a ‘Winner’ and ‘King of the people.’ According to her, Wizkid’s song Essence and MIL album was put under the wrong category.

“Was clearly in the wrong category how can you ignore the song Essence, The song by Wizkid , and Tems that was covered and remixed by Justin Bieber, you seem to isolate under global, when it should have been in song of the year category,” she wrote.

Naomi also shared some record-breaking statistics of Wizkid’s album that was obviously ignored by Grammy. To put icing on the cake, she posted a video of Nicki Minaj agreeing to a presenter’s opinion that Essence was song of the year.
