Renowned actor Don Brymo Uchegbu, famous for his portrayal of traditional and royal characters in movies, passed away on Thursday while shooting a film in Ahoada, Port-Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
Don Brymo Uchegbu was born in Enugwu Ukwu, Anambra State, and was highly sought-after in the Nigerian film industry for his regal roles. He began his acting career in secondary school and turned professional in 2000, starring in numerous films, including “My Beloved Daughter,” “Snake Battle,” “Land of Fire,” “No Mercy,” and “My God Never Sleeps,” among others.
He was 56 years old. Brymo’s death comes just a month after the film industry lost another talented actor, Obinna Nwafor, also known as Saint Obi.
The news of Brymo’s demise was confirmed by popular actor and singer Harry B Anyanwu, who revealed that Brymo collapsed on set and was rushed to the hospital, where he unfortunately passed away. It was reported that he had suffered a stroke, likely due to high blood pressure.
Harry B, who was planning to meet Brymo on set, expressed his grief and shared a video of Brymo urging people to appreciate him while he was still alive. Actor Mayor Ofoegbu also confirmed the sad news on Facebook, sharing a photo of the deceased and emphasizing the importance of living for today.
Don Brymo Uchegbu will be remembered as a respected and talented actor who entertained and inspired aspiring actors. His infectious laughter, unwavering support, and ability to brighten any room he entered made a lasting impact.
The sudden news of his passing shocked his colleagues and fans, who have taken to social media to express their sadness and pay tribute to his memory. Actress Eka Duke, actress Mary Igwe, and actress Nuella Njubigbo were among those who shared heartfelt messages of farewell.
