Recently released statistics by Statisense (a leading data company transitioning into using AI to simplify data and documents) shows that the Igbos are the most educated tribe in Nigeria.
The percentage of the literate age for both young men and women of the Igbo tribe tops the chat, according to reports by Statisense. Closely following them are the Edos and the Yorubas, while their Northern counterparts sits at the bottom for obvious reasons.
This statistics will definitely not come as a surprise to many who are well aware of how the Igbo community traditionally places a high value on education. Many Igbo families prioritize education as a means of social mobility and economic advancement.

This emphasis has deep historical roots, as education was seen as a way to overcome marginalization and economic challenges, especially after the Nigerian Civil War (Biafra War) of 1967-1970.
The Igbos also has a strong tradition of valuing education for both men and women, and this can be attributed to several cultural, historical, and socio-economic factors.
