Making banking transactions these days have become easier due to the internet, as advantageous as it can be, there are disadvantages too. A lot of persons have experienced bank hacks.

Here are ways to prevent them:

  1. Avoid frequenting public places where the internet is not protected by a password. By so doing, you expose yourself to risk. Hackers can gain access to your personal information through unprotected WiFi.
  2. Always use unpredictable password, especially with account that contain sensitive information. Go for passwords that are with different letters, numbers and symbols.
  3. Always be on the look for imposters and phishing scam. Phishers set up formal email that looks like one from your bank. Check for spelling errors and fake URLs before you click.
  4. Do not open your mails in unsafe places and even if you do so make sure you sign out before leaving such place. It can be in an unfamiliar phone.
  5. Alert bank authorities on time incase of lost or stolen debit cards. And block if possible.
  6. Beware of personal information you share on the internet. Hacking your account will be easier if a lot of your personal information is on the internet.
  7. Use a two factor authentication to reduce your risk of exposure. This method makes you to provide at least two different ways to verify your account. It can be a fingerprint or facial scam to confirm access to your account.
  8. Be careful while downloading financial apps, paying bills and shopping apps. Always make sure you are using bank official app, also be careful with whom you allow to access your banking details. Always keep your operating system updated.
