Being a professional makeup artist takes a gradual process to achieve.

 

1. Learn the craft of makeup

You can enrol in a fashion or makeup school to do this. Put your mind on the art of makeup.

Find a mentor who is already doing well in the craft to lead you through it.

Watch YouTube tutorial videos to learn more and to help speed up your learning process.

 

2. Network with another makeup artist

Connect and network with another makeup artist to enlarge your business. When you network with another makeup artist who probably is already doing well in the art, you can learn more from them as well as get referrals.

You can work at beauty shops or start attending events to broaden your knowledge and get clients too.

 

3. Offer free makeup services

This is necessary especially when you are still starting up as a newbie. Get your friends and family to model for you after you make them up.

By this people can get to see what your work look like and can trust you with their money and their face for a face beat.

 

4.  Be sure to use the right tools and materials.

Before you can pose yourself as a professional, you need to know and have the right tools to work with.

It will pose you as someone who knows what she is doing and is sure of her work.

 

5. Sell your brand using social media

There are a lot of people online, your prospective clients may come from your Facebook, WhatsApp or Instagram wall.

Be sure to post nice pictures of your work for people to see.

Also, be consistent with your posts on social media to gain visibility.

If you’ve dreamed of becoming a makeup artist, start working towards it and watch yourself grow.
