The Argentine superstar could be forced to leave the club before the expiration date of his contract, around June 2021. The reason according to Le10Sport is that the Catalonia giants have put any discussions for an extension of Messi’s contract on standstill since the departure of the current management of the club.
They seem to be waiting until January 24, (the date of the presidential elections) to appoint the successor of Josep Maria Bartomeu.

However, information from OK Diario claims that Lionel Messi may not wait for the elections to question his future and he could well be leaving during the January transfer window.
OK Diario also has it that the 33-year-old forward seems tired of all the controversies surrounding his stay in Camp Nou and could therefore force his departure, regardless of the next club president.
