Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra state has pledged that neither the state nor its residents will comply with any unlawful directives to stay at home.

Soludo made this declaration in response to the state government’s instruction that residents should disregard any sit-at-home orders issued by unauthorized individuals or groups within the state.

The governor’s press secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, conveyed this directive through a statement released on Thursday.

The statement indicated that the decision was prompted by a recent sit-at-home order issued by Simon Ekpa.

The state government denounced this order as illegal and urged residents not to adhere to such directives from non-governmental entities, absolving the citizens of any blame for non-compliance.

According to the statement, it emphasized, “The people of Anambra, as well as the entire South East region, should completely disregard such directives.”

The statement further clarified, “The imposition of sit-at-home orders by unauthorized individuals or groups is a clear violation of the law.”

Anambra State will continue to operate normally, with its markets, schools, businesses, and social activities remaining open.

The state is committed to preventing the spread of anarchy, fear, or lawlessness and will not allow itself to become a breeding ground for such activities.
