Tech burnout has become a common issue in our modern digital age. It is also known as digital burnout.

With the change in most jobs from onsite to remote, a large percentage of people are now involved in tech.

Here are some strategies put together to help you avoid tech burnout:

1. Take breaks

Be sure to add short breaks in your daily routine. You should not sit all day with your eyes on your screen. Use these breaks to stretch, move around, or engage in activities that don’t involve technology, such as going for a walk or reading a book.

2. Set boundaries

Establish clear boundaries between your personal and professional use of technology. Define specific times and spaces where you disconnect from screens and focus on other activities or spend time with loved ones.

3. Limit the use of social media

Social media can be a major source of tech burnout. Set specific time limits for social media use or consider taking breaks from certain platforms altogether. Focus on building real-life connections and engage in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment.

4. Practice mindfulness

Cultivate mindfulness and be present in the moment. Pay attention to your technology usage and be aware of when it starts to feel overwhelming or consuming. Practice deep breathing or meditation to help manage stress and bring focus back to the present.

5. Try digital detox

This is a period when you intentionally disconnect from technology. It can be during weekends or any day of the week. The goal is to keep you away from electronic devices, and let you engage in offline activities.

6. Prioritize self-care

Make self-care a priority in your life. Engage in activities that help you relax, recharge, and rejuvenate. This could include exercising, pursuing hobbies, spending time in nature, or practicing mindfulness techniques.

7. Strike a work-life balance

Set boundaries around your work hours, avoid checking work-related emails or messages during non-work hours, and make time for activities that help you disconnect from work.If not, you’ll find yourself working round the clock even when you are meant to take some rest.

8. Seek support

If you’re experiencing tech burnout, don’t hesitate to seek support from friends, family, or professionals. Talking about your experiences and feelings with others can provide valuable perspective and help you find strategies to cope with burnout.

Find strategies that work best for you. Experiment with different approaches and prioritize your mental and emotional well-being in the digital age.
