Last month, Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson stunned everyone when they announced they were over after nine months together. But what led to the split? Was Kim ignoring Pete’s giant red flags? Here are the reasons Kim realized she and Pete weren’t an item.
All of Pete’s ex-girlfriends
If there’s one thing Pete Davidson is known for, it’s his long list of famous ex-girlfriends. After his engagement to Ariana Grande ended in late 2018, Pete dated Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, Gerber and Gerber and Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor.
He and Kim began dating in late 2021. While Kim is no stranger to dating and even marrying celebrities, the fact that Pete has racked up so many famous ex’s in such a short time could definitely be a big red flag.

His tattoos
When they were together Pete got a bunch of tattoos in honor of Kim. When she passed the baby bar, he got “My girl is a lawyer” tattooed on his chest. Then he got a tattoo later with the letter “knscp” on his neck which stands for Kim, North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm. He also got Kim’s name and the names Jasmine in Aladdin along with the infinity symbol.
A source close to Kim told the Sonnet that the ink was a red flag. What started out as a fun thing for Kim started to become way more serious for Pete and when he got those tats done, she was seriously freaked out.
His career
Pete Davidson is a star on the rise. In May, after he left SNL after eight seasons, he traveled to Australia to shoot the movie “Wizards.” After the breakup, a source close to the actor told US Weekly that Pete has a hugely ambitious streak and wants to focus on doing stand-up and more challenging acting roles.

The age difference
Kim and Pete were at different places in their lives literally. Kim is 41 and Pete is 28. 12 years is hardly the biggest age gap in Hollywood, but it was definitely a challenge for the couple. An Insider told Hollywood Life that although age is only a number, it does carry with it certain things that make her and Pete not relatable.
Different priorities
Since Pete is a rising star in his late 20s and Kim is an established business mogul with four kids, these two had totally different priorities. With everything going on in her life, Kim couldn’t hang with Pete whenever he wanted. She needed some warning after the split.
Page Six reported that Pete is totally spontaneous and impulsive and wanted Kim to fly to be with him on a moment’s notice. For Kim, those expectations became exhausting. She needed to focus on her kids.
Chemistry wasn’t enough
One thing Kim and Pete relationship wasn’t lacking was chemistry. On her reality show, Kim admitted that she initially texted Pete after meeting on SNL because she heard about his infamous hey do you have Pete’s number and they were like yeah. In another scene, she told Khloe and Kourtney that their grandmother was right about having a hot love life in her 40s. Clearly, there was a huge attraction between Kim and Pete but it wasn’t enough to save the relationship.
Long distance
Kim is based in California while Pete splits his time between New York and whatever films that he’s on. This past summer, Pete was filming in Australia and this put a huge strain on their relationship. Apparently, Pete wanted Kim to visit for an extended amount of time, but with her schedule and responsibilities, it just wasn’t possible.
Hollywood Life reported that while Kim did fly to Australia and ultimately enjoyed her trip, she and Pete had some deep talk that led to the decision to break up. It sounds like these two realize their long-distance relationship wasn’t going to get any easier.
She needs someone stable
After all the stress with her ex-husband Kanye West, Kim needs a man who can steer clear of drama and as sweet and fun as Pete Davidson is, his age and career doesn’t make him the most stable partner. A source told E-News that since the breakup, Kim has said she’s ready to date but it has to be the right person that understands her life.
The Source adds that she isn’t compromising her freedom right now. Sounds like Kim needs a man she will fit into her life and not the other way around.
Too much too soon
After they broke up, there was a rumor that Pete actually proposed to Kim and it scares her off. Sources denied it but knowing Pete, it doesn’t sound like the craziest theory. After all, he proposed to ex Ariana Grande after just a few weeks of dating and based off of his relationship with his other exes, Pete falls hard and falls fast.
in the wake of her difficult divorce with Kanye, maybe Kim needed someone who could just take things slow. She’s not in any rush to walk down the aisle again.
