Stomach ulcer is one of the Commonest forms of ulcers many Nigerians go through, and also one of the widely misunderstood forms of illness.

This is because some symptoms of stomach ulcers are not easily detectable as ulcers unless medically diagnosed.

There are some myths people hold on to concerning stomach ulcers that have been accepted by so many.

1. Milk can heal ulcers

This is one of the widely believed myths about ulcers. Milk can temporarily relieve you from the effect of ulcers. Milk by nature is alkaline which can neutralize stomach acids and can counter the effect of spices and lessen the effect of ulcers.

2. Stomach ulcer is not treatable 

A stomach ulcer is treatable when diagnosed early. At least, between 2-3 months of occurrence in the human system. When diagnosed with an ulcer, avoid over-the-counter medicines. Also, stay away from smoking and drinking alcohol when undergoing treatment.

 

3. Spicy foods are the main causes of ulcer 

Spicy foods do not cause ulcers but can aggravate existing allergic Conditions. Spicy foods are not responsible for causing ulcers but can worsen the situation.

 

4. Stress cause ulcers 

Ulcers are not caused by stress, even though experiencing stress can alleviate ulcers or their symptoms.
