Saudi Arabia Health Ministry Suspends The Ongoing Recruitments Of Nigerian Doctors After DSS Harassment
Saudi Arabia Health Ministry has suspended the recruitment interviews of Nigerian Doctors after the operatives of the Department of State Services stormed the recruitment center and dispersed the doctors who came for the interview.
The incident reportedly occurred at the Sheraton Hotels Abuja on Thursday.
According to the reports, the DSS invaded the venue and chased the doctors and journalists who gathered at the center out, they also arrested one journalist and later released him.

The Saudis had no option but to suspend the ongoing recruitment program.

The Vice-President, Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, Adejo Arome, confirmed the suspension in a statement on Thursday.
In his words, he said;
“Well, some people got to the venue today (Thursday) and when they didn’t meet anyone, they called me and I confirmed from the recruiters and some other doctors that the recruitment has been suspended.
“The recruitment on Tuesday garnered coverage, because of the media publicity. It was everywhere that doctors were going to Saudi Arabia.
“The recruiters had to suspend it because the Federal Government said it felt embarrassed by the news.
“It is a big shame. The government has no right to infringe on the right of the citizens to choose to go to another country. If the system is not working, let them go to another country.”
The recruitment exercise was organised by Saudi Arabia Health ministry.
The job offer was for consultants and specialists in all medical fields, excluding psychiatrists.
Among those present for the interview were medical consultants and doctors in various areas of specialisation.
It was gathered that each applicant paid N10,000 as the application fee after which medical certificates, means of identification, and other documents were tendered at the point of documentation.
After payment, the medical doctors were screened before a panel of Saudi Arabian personnel.
