American singer Selena Marie Gomez has invited black activists and civil rights leaders to temporarily take over her Instagram account and use the platform to protest racism and police brutality.

The 27-year-old celebrity revealed she has been struggling “to know the right things to say” in the heat of the moment. Hence she feels she’s not rightly disposed to offer any comments, instead the popstar decided to give black activists the rare opportunity to speak out against racism via her official Instagram account.

She made this known in one of her social media posts on Thursday.

“I have been struggling to know the right things to say to get the word out about this important moment in history. After thinking about how best to use my social media, I decided that we all need to hear more from Black voices,” she explained.

“Over the next few days, I will be highlighting influential leaders and giving them a chance to take over my Instagram so that they can speak directly to all of us. We all have an obligation to do better and we can start by listening with an open heart and mind.”

Meanwhile Selena Gomez was among a host of celebrities who shut down their official websites and social media channels earlier this week to support the Blackout Tuesday movement.
